Day 42: Cynthia Mitchell Wall Plaque

Day 42: Today's piece is another piece by my fav post war Tasmanian potter Cynthia Mitchell and what a piece it is! This is Skimbleshanks the Railway cat who drives the mail train. He is from T.S. Eliot's, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. My guess is this 3D wall plaque is a complete one off. There are 14 or so poems in the book and my guess is there is a wall plaque for every poem (I know of the existence of 3 other T.S. Eliot cat plaques). I love this piece and waited a numer of years for one to turn up. I wouldn't be surprised if the "missing" 10 or so plaques have migrated to the mainland or indeed overseas. Fingers crossed they haven't been consigned to the land fill. @mitchellroad #lovemitchellroad #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #Pottery #Ceramics #instapottery #AustralianDesign #TasmanianPottery #TasmanianCeramics #TasmanianArt #TasmanianStudioCeramics #CynthiaMitchellPottery #CynthiaMitchell #tseliot #Skimbleshanks #Cats #Cat #Kitten #365DaysofAustralianPottery

Day 24: Cynthia Mitchell Charger

Day 24: Today's piece is by Tasmanian potter Cynthia Mitchell. Not only is this by my favourite post WWII Tasmanian potter but it is just about my favourite piece by her too. It was a gift from a good friend and although it's almost in 2 pieces I love it. I became a little obsessed with her work and reckon my collection is the largest collection of her pottery and might well be the largest collection of a single 20th century studio potter in private hands in Australia. I must own more than 200 pieces with few if any repeats so be prepared to see a few more pieces throughout the year. #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #AustralianStudioPottery #australianceramics #TasmanianPottery #TasmanianCeramics #CynthiaMitchell #CynthiaMitchellPottery #Pottery #Ceramics #instapottery #AustralianDesign #AustralianArt #365DaysofAustralianPottery
