Day 37: Les Blakebrough Beaker

Day 37: Today's piece is by Tasmanian master potter Les Blakebrough. I always call these Sake cups but it might be a bit big for that so I might go for beaker. Either way it's a perfect little piece of antipodean orientalism (see what i did there!? 😒). #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #Pottery #Ceramics #instapottery #AustralianDesign #TasmanianPottery #LesBlakebrough #australianceramics #TasmanianArt #365DaysofAustralianPottery

Day 19: Newtone Art Ware Vase – Shape 142

Day 19: Today's piece is by Bakewell Bros from their Newtone Art Ware line circa 1930s. This piece is shape 143 and is one of four I own. I'll post the other 3 over the coming days to show the different decorating techniques being used at the time by Bakewell Bros. This piece is (for want of a better term) air brushed. I'll also post a picture of all four side by side which will show just how hand made and individual these commercially produced pieces can be. I also have to admit that I saw this green giant and immediately thought of my friend Liz @downtoearthvintage not sure if this is the right green for you. If not don't despair i have a few to come I know you will like! #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #NSWPottery #BakewellBros #Newtone #Bakewells #NewtonePottery #NewtoneArtWare #Art #Design #ArtDeco #australianceramics #Ceramics #Pottery #instapottery #365DaysofAustralianPottery

Day 16: Trent Art Ware Vase

Day 16: Today's piece is by Bakewells of Erskinville NSW under their Trent Art Ware label which was nothing more than a rebranding of the Newtone line of wares after WWII. This exact shape in this exact colouring would have been produced in the Newtone range some 10 years earlier. Circa mid to late 1940's. #AustralianPottery #NSWPottery #Pottery #Ceramics #instapottery #AustralianDesign #AustralianArt #AustralianArtPottery #sydneyceramics #NSWCeramics #Newtone #NewtonePottery #TrentArtWare #BakewellBros #Bakewells #365DaysofAustralianPottery
