Day 19: Newtone Art Ware Vase – Shape 142

Day 19: Today's piece is by Bakewell Bros from their Newtone Art Ware line circa 1930s. This piece is shape 143 and is one of four I own. I'll post the other 3 over the coming days to show the different decorating techniques being used at the time by Bakewell Bros. This piece is (for want of a better term) air brushed. I'll also post a picture of all four side by side which will show just how hand made and individual these commercially produced pieces can be. I also have to admit that I saw this green giant and immediately thought of my friend Liz @downtoearthvintage not sure if this is the right green for you. If not don't despair i have a few to come I know you will like! #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #NSWPottery #BakewellBros #Newtone #Bakewells #NewtonePottery #NewtoneArtWare #Art #Design #ArtDeco #australianceramics #Ceramics #Pottery #instapottery #365DaysofAustralianPottery

Day 13: Mashman Bookends

Day 13: Today's piece is a pair of pretty rare bookends by Sydney based pottery Mashman Bros from their Regal Art range circa 1930's. My first purchase of the year and I'm more than chuffed. Thanks to my new best friend Ludo for helping me out. #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #MashmanBros #MashmanPottery #Mashman #1930s #ArtDeco #Pottery #Ceramics #AustralianDesign #instapottery #NSWPottery #Design #Art #bookends #SailingShips #Sailing #squarerigger #365DaysofAustralianPottery

Day 11: Newtone Vase

Day 11: Another piece from my favourite pottery. Newtone Art Ware by Bakewells of Erskinville NSW. This is one of the more common shapes but the glaze is quite unusual. Day 7: Disabled Soldier Pottery

Day 7: Today's piece may not look it but it is pretty special. Started around the end of the first world war the Disabled Soldiers Pottery was an initiative of the Red Cross in Redfern NSW to provide work for returned soldiers suffering from severe war related injuries (usually amputations that would have made them unsuitable for other work). Circa 1920. #AustralianPottery #AustralianArtPottery #NSWPottery #DisabledSoldiersPottery #DisabledSoldiers #WWI #WorldWarOne #instapottery #Pottery #Ceramics #AustralianDesign #Art #Design #365DaysofAustralianPottery
